Alpha Psi Omega
The purpose of Alpha Psi Omega, Beta Mu cast, at Union University is to stimulate interest in theatre activities at Union and to secure for the college all advantages, and mutual helpfulness provided by a large national honorary fraternity. Alpha Psi Omega co-sponsor, along with the Union Players, all theatre presentations during the school year. Members serve either in the cast, as an usher, or in a crew position.
To be eligible for membership, students must be regularly enrolled in the university. After meeting the minimum requirements of the National Constitution, the local cast requires a certain amount of participation, based on a point system, in the theatre season in order to be inducted.
Activities/opportunities include participation in productions on and off stage, audition opportunities for events such as student-directed one acts, Whose Bongo is it Anyway?, and the children show, group trips to see plays, get-togethers, serving at the local Meadowbrook nursing home, and auditions for national acting programs such as TTA and SETC.
Accomplishments include increased membership each year, opportunities to host big-name events, participation with the Jackson Generals, members getting acting jobs through SETC (southeastern theatre conference), successful events such as UU Improv.
More information can be found on the UU Improv Twitter page.
